Steven Eckard, PE
Executive Vice President
Steven J. Eckard is Executive Vice President of Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Mr. Eckard started his career testing smoke stacks. In that role, he was responsible for special projects that involved testing non-standard emission sources for a variety of organic pollutants. Several years of managing these unique projects exposed Mr. Eckard to a wide variety of testing and analysis circumstances. Mr. Eckard is considered an expert on sampling and analysis of organic pollutants from many different sources and industry types. In 1993 he founded Enthalpy Analytical, Inc. Since 1993, Mr. Eckard has been managing environmental laboratories specializing in air pollution testing and tobacco smoke analysis. Mr. Eckard has also managed the quality systems for those labs. He is well versed in ISO 17025 and FDA Good Laboratory Practices based Quality Management Systems.

Kasey Raley
Laboratory Director
Kasey Raley is the Laboratory Director of Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ Tobacco and Nicotine division. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado, Kasey Raley spent 18 years working in the Environmental Testing Industry focused on drinking water and wastewater aspects. She has worked hard over the past 18 years in numerous roles as a Laboratory Analyst, Senior Biologist, Microbiology Technical Manager, Senior Analytical Services Manager, Client Services Manager and Quality Manager, to become the industry expert she is today. Since joining Enthalpy Specialty Labs, Kasey has been able to apply her knowledge and experience in laboratory testing to assume supervisory control of all operations and production aspects of the tobacco group.
Business Development

Jennifer Feller
Account Executive
Jennifer (Jenn) Feller is an experienced business development / technical sales manager with a demonstrated history of working on modified and reduced risk tobacco products with a focus on ENDS and heated tobacco products. Jenn has strong project and quality management skills coupled with extensive knowledge of serving and supporting projects for FDA submission, including ENDS, whole cigarettes, tobacco filler & smoke, waterpipe, oral pouches, and prototype devices. Her general knowledge of various detection methods including liquid and gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and inductively coupled plasma was invaluable on all of these projects. Jenn is also responsible for contributing to continuous initiatives to increase operating efficiency, improve quality, and facilitate the client service experience. Jenn has a strong science background and graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in physics, with a focus on mathematics from Loyola University, New Orleans.

Meghan Shea
Inside Sales, Project Management
Meghan Shea is a Business Development and Project Manager at Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ Tobacco and Nicotine division. With a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Meghan Shea has experience as a Wet Chemistry Analyst and spent four years as a Wet Chemistry Group Leader at a full service environmental laboratory prior to joining Enthalpy Specialty Labs. She applied her invaluable experience and knowledge in the lab and previous seven years of customer service experience to progress into project management. Since joining Enthalpy Specialty Labs in 2020, Meghan Shea has worked hard to improve the project management process and customer service experience.

Chelsea Lee
Sales Administrator
Chelsea Lee is the Sales Administrator of Enthalpy Specialty Labs. She has six years of experience in sales and executive support, specializing in workflow efficiency improvement, data management, and client relations. Since joining Enthalpy in 2023, Chelsea has worked hard to enhance reporting, refine our client relationship management software, and improve existing processes.

Robert Poll
Business Development Manager
Robert Poll is a Business Development Manager at Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ Tobacco and Nicotine division. Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management. He brings over 22 years of sales experience in the tobacco and nicotine industry. During this time Robert fostered strong client and account relationships built on trust, opportunity, and collaboration. Robert developed sound quality management skills along with extensive knowledge of nicotine products such as combustibles, electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco products (HTPs). He has had the opportunity to work on new product launches, developing teams, and improving market conditions. Robert’s years of experience and knowledge have proved invaluable to the Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ team..
Technical Leadership

Jake Hilldrup
Technical Director, Chemistry
Jake Hilldrup is the Technical Director of Chemistry for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Jake served as an Analytical Chemist in pharmaceuticals for over seven years before joining Enthalpy in 2014. With his robust analytical and regulatory background he has helped initiatives in expanding Enthalpy’s capabilities into numerous new product categories including cigars, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and oral pouches. Jake is also a member of the ISO US (ANSI) Technical Advisory Group and CORESTA, and he actively contributes to collaborative and proficiency studies while helping form and improve international standards used to test nicotine and tobacco products.

Mariano Scian, PhD
Technical Director, Toxicology
Mariano Scian, Ph.D., is the Technical Director of Toxicology for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Mariano earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Graduate Health Sciences Certificate in Human Physiology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University. He spent seven years as a Research Scientist and Lab Manager and has served as faculty for local universities for the last 16 years. Mariano brought his extensive knowledge and experience to Enthalpy in 2018. Since that time, he has worked diligently to implement new technologies, improve procedures, and provide invaluable guidance to lab staff.

Lynn McFadden, PhD
Senior Manager, Toxicology
Lynn McFadden, Ph.D., is the Senior Manager of Toxicology for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Lynn earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Trine University, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her dissertation work involved designing and prototyping the first portable device to measure aerosol exposure within the breathing zone and cellular response in real time – the Portable In Vitro Exposure Cassette (PIVEC). Through the Fulbright Program and as part of her dissertation work, she worked as a Fulbright Fellow at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas – Aerosol and Particle Technology lab in Thessaloniki, Greece. Lynn served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers University after graduation, expanding her research into bioaerosols. She joined Enthalpy in 2021 as a Group Leader and quickly progressed to Senior Manager. Dr. Lynn McFadden has applied her extensive knowledge and experience by improving existing procedures, providing invaluable training to various Enthalpy personnel, and leading numerous projects.

Sherri Brown
Technical Director, Chemistry
Sherri Brown is the Technical Director of Chemistry for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from North Carolina State University. Sherri was a Research Chemist for over 11 years until she joined Enthalpy in 2011. She brought with her an immense amount of experience and knowledge in developing instrument validation protocols and analytical method development and validation.

Morgan Powell
Customer Experience Manager
Morgan Powell is the Customer Experience Manager of Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Morgan has 10 years of experience in customer service, specializing in increasing cross flow of information and client experience improvement. She joined Enthalpy in 2023 and has worked hard to enhance client communications and refine workflow processes between departments. Morgan’s creative thinking and root-cause analysis skills have been instrumental in many initiatives.

Scott Mayo
Senior Project Manager
Scott Mayo is the Senior Project Manager of Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ Tobacco and Nicotine division. Scott has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Digital Photography, Printmaking, and Drawing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also holds HAZWOPER and DOT HAZMAT certifications and heads the Environmental Health and Safety Committee internally. He joined Enthalpy in 2015 in Sample Receiving before moving into Project Management. Scott manages the flow of projects through setup and tracking, bridging gaps from initial customer contact through sample receipt, laboratory analysis, and the final reporting process. He also managed the Receiving Department for 7 years. Scott enjoys analyzing and improving project infrastructure related to artifact creation and tracking processes, software and data management systems, and internal and external communication processes.

Paulette Courington
Project Manager
Paulette Courington is a Project Manager for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Paulette has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Longwood College. She has been with Enthalpy since 2008 and has over 31 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and tobacco industries. Paulette’s plethora of knowledge and experience has been paramount in tracking projects through the lab to improve client satisfaction. She has on boarded and trained numerous new hires on Good Laboratory Practices and general processes to ensure uniformity amongst lab personnel.

Kameron Kyles
Project Manager
Kameron (Kam) Kyles is a Project Manager for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. Kameron has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined Enthalpy in 2018 and has worked hard to create amicable relationships with clients and ensure their satisfaction. Kam’s attention to detail and communication skills have been instrumental in successfully tracking projects, reviewing data, and relaying communications between the lab and clients.

Alex Martin
Technical Director, Chemistry
Alex Martin is a Technical Director of Enthalpy Specialty Labs. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry. With over 30 years of experience in the tobacco science industry developing technical solutions for clients and government regulators, Alex has been invaluable in method development and validation for Enthalpy. She also actively represents Enthalpy in CORESTA task forces and sub-groups where she prepares collaborative study protocols, performs statistical analysis and presents findings.

Andrew Cheetham, DPhil
Senior Scientist
Andrew Cheetham, DPhil, is a Senior Scientist for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. He earned his Masters of Chemistry and Doctor of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford. Andrew’s organic chemistry experience includes analytical method development using a variety of chromatographic and detection techniques for soft nanomaterial characterization. His experience and knowledge have been indispensable for Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ method development team since he joined in 2017, helping to expand the range of offerings for the quantitation of harmful and potentially harmful constituents (HPHCs) in tobacco and nicotine-containing products. Andrew has also brought his strategic and tactical expertise to numerous projects for FDA PMTA submissions.

Joseph Jablonski, PhD
Senior Scientist
Joseph Jablonski, Ph.D., is a Senior Scientist for Enthalpy Specialty Labs. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. Joseph spent over five years as a Research Scientist at a biotech start-up utilizing high throughput LCMS before joining Enthalpy Specialty Labs in 2017. His experience in analytical method development and validation has been vital to expanding Enthalpy Specialty Labs’ capabilities. He also represents Enthalpy Specialty Labs in CORESTA sub-group participation.
